Month One (March 2007)

Time flies when you're new parents!! We loved every minute of it too! Looking back, it's hard to believe how small he was. It was so easy to carry him in the crook of one arm!

This was such a fun month for us as we introduced him to our family and close friends. Sierra our dog) was especially happy to have a new friend at home!! The first month also held it's challenges as we fought a persistent thrush infection (yeast infection in the mouth). This was also the month where we had to wake Matthew every two hours all night long to make sure he was getting enough to eat. Since he was only 4lbs 7 ounces when we took him home, every ounce counted as we aimed for 10 lbs at 2 months old. Matthew loves to sleep!! So much that he wouldn't even wake up to tell us he was hungry. Matthew was a very good baby, as far as temperament and sleeping/eating. He loved being on a schedule from the very beginning, which made life for mom and dad much easier.

Already he has so much personality, and we have caught some great facial expressions on film. he always seems to be so deep in thought!!


Here we are in our first Family photo. (Do we look sleepy to you???) Sierra was very attached to Matthew already when this photo was taken. She never left his side. It's funny to see her bigger than Matthew in these photos.


Matthew loved his baths from around 2 weeks old to 5 months old. Here we are after our first attempt at putting the baby tub in the bathtub. It was the only time we ever did this (afterwards the tub was just placed on the floor in the bathroom, and we just let him splash).

Finally, I wanted to include this photo of Matthew in his cradle. We allowed him to sleep in this the first 5-1/2 months of his life. When we finally put him in his crib, his body almost stretched all the way from the head to the foot of the cradle.
